![]() NoMachine has support for different Gnu / Linux distributions, among which is Ubuntu. The information is sent via SSH, so all the information that is exchanged between the server and the client is encrypted. NX performs direct compression of the X11 protocol, which allows greater efficiency than VNC. NX is a computer program that performs very fast X11 remote connections, allowing users to access remote Linux or Unix desktops even under slow connections, such as those made with a modem. The client that connects to the NX server is considered a thin client. In addition, with NoMachine we will also be able to perform other interesting actions on a remote computer. This application is useful for sharing access or files from one computer to another. NoMachine is a remote desktop tool that it will allow us to access a computer from a local network or through the internet. It will offer us connection protocols such as SSH y NX to connect the equipment. This is a remote access tool for Gnu / Linux, Mac and Windows. I have spent about 2 hours on this total and feel like a major retard for trying to install something so seemingly trivial. In the next article we are going to take a look at NoMachine Remote Desktop and see how to install it on Ubuntu 18.04. I looked through various freeNX sites and rpm repos but they all have deadlinks, readme.txt's stating the files are no hosted for some random reason, or point back to, which no longer has. I have also tried looking for previous versions such as 3.5 and cannot find an installer for that either. I have tried downloading and installing the latest server versions on the linux machine but the main one, and enterprise version, do not allow ssh. Port 22/ssh is my only option as arbitrary ports such as 4000 are blocked on the server which this is being installed on. I download the latest from and it will not allow me to connect over port port 22. ![]() ![]() And their client allows for me to easily restore disconnected sessions, another plus for flaky internet connections. I want to use the NX protocol for remote desktop because it is much faster, so I hear, when going over the internet. ![]() I have spent about 2 hours with no luck on this one. ![]()
